Anny Ruth
Born and raised a bunch of decades ago in the Valle de las Hamacas (Hammocks’ Valley) in The Tom Thumb of the Americas. Imported in 2018 to the land of the coyotes, quails, hawks, and roadrunners by my then #noviogringoguapo (my now Husband). Relocated in “The City of 35”. The place where my Spirit Sings, home to the Red Rocks, and where dinosaurs roamed gazillion of years ago. LaMamma of Such a Daaarling, free-spirited toddler girl. Furry Mamma of 2 Beauuutiful Fluff balls: Macchiato & Tashi. Daughter to a real character, a story I’ll leave for later.
But the story I’m going to share with you happened around the ¾ mark of that timeline: From when I was born and I relocated to my happy place.
Believe it or not. Around that time, I was dreaming about becoming a coffee shop owner, and a roaster! It was the perrrfect dream! Father already had a coffee farm, I just needed to roast the beans, and brew them! Aaaw! In my mind it looked so magazine-cover worthy! So dang perfect! I even attended a local Barista school, and learned the basics, brewing methods, cupping. I literally learned everything I would get thrown my way! I totally could see myself leading a team of baristas!
It was really a nice dream! It truly was! Until I pinched myself, and got to see the bigger picture: I wasn’t seeing the coffee farm for the trees. So instead, I decided to put LLG on the coffee map, and be a heck of a coffee grower. And that’s when my journey in coffee truly began…
I stepped foot on the farm for the first time (WTH! You might think... Ya ya! Well... I had never liked dusty places, nor liked to be surrounded by buzzing insects! Also wasn’t into non-beach related sun tans). I walked it through entirely, east to west, and from the bottom all the way up to the rim of the crater (Always shadowed by Luis -RIP- and his rifle). Learned as much as I could, and as fast as possible. Rehabilitated, updated, and ran the mill for the first time. Which had been built a decade before, and abandoned after its completion. That first year I started to export all of our beans directly (meaning: No one touches my beans but us and yourself!) to different corners of the world. Later on, the beans started to get awarded and recognized. [Fanfare!] LLG made it to the world map of coffee! Hooray!
LLG brought me back to life! A strenuous, challenging hike that has led me to so much achievements, satisfaction, joy. Closing containers every year destined to different corners of the World. Traveling around the world promoting our beans. Seeing my name on your bags of roasted. Getting the rockstar treatment a couple of times. Autographing bags of roasted to LLG fans (LOL!). Found my other coffee cherry seed. Gave birth to a wonderful hybrid. And hey! I haven’t made it to the cover of a magazine, YET! But I did make it to a couple of magazine articles! So, technically I can say my dream DID COME TRUE!
